Herbicide treatment via spraying Japanese Knotweed is known to be the most cost-effective approach to treatment. It combines both the most effective and cheapest option to treat Japanese Knotweed and constitutes the majority of Japanese Knotweed treatment programmes currently being undertaken.

The downside to chemical foliar application include specific timeframes for treatment which can only be applied at the height of the growing season and timespans for treatment which typically must be carried out over a 3 to 5 year period.

It is most suited to treat larger stands of Japanese Knotweed and sites where the affected areas will remain undisturbed to ensure the herbicide can do its job most effectively.
